Arundel Gallery Trail
Well we were not disappointed by our visit to Arundel today. The rain petered out as we crested the top of the South Downs and we enjoyed viewing lots of new artists work and a few old friends.
We started at St Nicholas Church the venue for Sussex Sculptors and the sculptures of Abby & Teresa Martin and Jackie Frewing was familiar but we also liked the sculptures by Jill Bourner and Lesley Stepney. A short distance away we met Mike Savage who was exhibiting in a small courtyard garden in Maltravers Street. As a result there are now three new copper arum lilies in our garden.
Further along the same road we were entranced by the Aeolian harps of Geoffrey Stinton and impressed by his collection of birds made out of wire mesh. In contrast the intricate ceramic animals of Felicity Lloyd Coombes attracted our attention especially her beautifully crafted reclining hare.
We travelled downwards towards the river and town centre and came across the small garden of sculptor Lawrence Dicks. His large and small resin organic forms made a big impression and were displayed to great effect in this intimate environment.
We also saw a number of painters but I did not photograph any so the slideshow only focuses on the sculptures we enjoyed today.
