After graduating from Loughborough University in 2000 with a Degree in Fine Art: Sculpture, I began working part time in a small studio in my garden. I now have a studio in Shere where I work full time, exhibiting with the Surrey Sculpture Society, Surrey Guild of Craftsmen and various other groups and venues across the country. I often work with groups of children in schools, letting them experience working with tools and materials that they wouldn’t normally have access to.
I work mainly in metal using birds, animals, insects and plants as my subject matter and I often take my inspiration from children’s stories, poems or illustrations. I want to create sculptures that are fun to look at so I try to give my work a sense of quirkiness often using bright colours or awkward poses to achieve this.
